Renewable Energy in Delaware
For the second smallest state in the Union, Delaware has some big climate goals! In 2021, Delaware pledged to source 40% of its electricity usage from renewable energy by 2035. Two years later, Delaware passed the Climate Change Solutions Act, which set an ambitious target of reducing net emissions by 50% in 2030 and 100% in 2050, using 2005 as a baseline. Community Solar is a critical program that helps Delaware meet these admirable goals – all while helping residents and businesses from the First State save meaningfully on their electric bills.

Ampion Billing in Delaware
Delaware’s Community Solar program operates under a dual-billing system. This means that you will receive one significantly reduced bill from Delmarva, and one bill from Ampion for your discounted Solar Credits. Your Solar Credits represent the energy produced by your share of the solar farm, and are applied to your Delmarva electric bill each month, reducing what you owe to Delmarva. Your Solar Credits appear on your Ampion bill at a fixed discount. That’s where the savings come in!
In Delaware, the discount is 10% off Solar Credits for residents and businesses. Think of this as every dollar of credit only costing you 90 cents. So you pay less than what you would have paid without Community Solar. For income-eligible subscribers, the discount is 18% off Solar Credits.
Sound too good to be true? We hear that a lot! These savings are made possible by state programs designed to increase adoption of renewable energy in Delaware. The result is a win for everyone involved.
