The Town of Brooksville, Maine partnered with Ampion to help enroll over 100 Brooksville community members in Community Solar. These subscribers are collectively saving an estimated $28,500 in annual electricity costs while raising funds for town improvements. For each new Brooksville subscriber enrolled, Ampion contributes a fixed donation to the municipality, totaling $5,400 so far. Those funds are dedicated to a new roof for the town's salt shed, a critical piece of infrastructure that stores salt for winter road maintenance.

"This partnership gave us a creative way to fund the long-awaited salt shed roof project while delivering direct savings to our residents," said John Gray, a Brooksville selectman. "When Ampion approached us with this model, we saw an opportunity to accomplish two goals at once. The response from the community has been tremendous."

Maine's community solar program enables utility customers to support clean energy without purchasing or installing solar panels. Through community solar, residents and businesses can subscribe to a share of clean energy generated from a local solar farm. Ampion community solar subscribers in the Versant Bangor Hydro and Central Maine Power utility territories are billed at a fixed 15% discount for their share of the solar farm's energy production. This appears on their electric bill in the form of credits or kilowatt-hour (kWh) reductions, depending on the utility.

"Ampion is proud to support local communities like Brooksville while providing meaningful electric bill savings to households," said Nate Owen, CEO & Founder of Ampion. "As energy prices fluctuate, community solar offers financial relief with no upfront costs or installation required. The fact that we can simultaneously help fund important municipal projects makes these partnerships especially rewarding."

To support the initiative's success, Ampion provided outreach resources including a custom landing page for the campaign, direct mail materials, and social media content. Local Ampion staff were also available in person to assist residents with the enrollment process. Two local restaurants, Bagaduce Lunch and Lucy Q’s, participated in the partnership to support the salt shed project.
