Market Manager - Massachusetts

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the position of Market Development Manager - Massachusetts. You will reside in Massachusetts and/or spend a significant amount of your time working in the market, leveraging your extensive relationships and relevant work experiences to have a significant and immediate impact in helping low-income (LMI), non profits, residential and commercial utility accounts in Massachusetts achieve their energy savings and sustainability objectives with Community Solar.

You are also responsible for Ampion’s overall kWh acquisition growth in Massachusetts, ensuring the company achieves our subscriber targets by determining customer acquisition strategy and tactics for the State of MA and removing any blockers or challenges that might inhibit subscriber acquisition growth and hitting our targets. The Market Development Manager guides our Massachusetts-based/dedicated Ampion staff who are acquiring subscribers while also ensuring channel partners / indirect sales. This role reports directly to the SVP Subscriber Acquisition.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Construct detailed go to market subscriber acquisition plans and tactics for Massachusetts; including defining subscriber segments, acquisition strategies, identifying target markets and partners, helping create subscriber agreements, partner/channel partner agreements, product terms & offer and coordinate with Marketing, Direct Sales, Indirect Sales, and other Ampion stakeholders on delivering Massachusetts customer acquisition KPIs.

  • Ensure kWh and subscriber acquisition target delivery in Massachusetts; through both direct prospecting and business development of Community Based Organizations (CBOs), assigned partners, affordable housing groups and other LMI and consumer facing partners and companies.

  • For Ampion’s subscriber acquisition efforts in the State of Massachusetts, you will:

    • Project manage key lead generation initiatives, sales campaigns and market-entry efforts
    • Ensure key reports and dashboards for sales leadership, teams and individuals are available and provide analysis/direction as appropriate
    • Support pipeline forecasting, sales planning and quota creation
    • Develop ad hoc reports, performance summaries, and analyses to support decision-making across groups
  • Maintain a clear and deep understanding of Ampion’s available sales capacity, customer requirements and utility market policy rules and programmatic conditions for the State of Maryland.

  • Look at operational data frequently - e.g. how are we allocating, should we consider more / less, etc, churn, and other drivers of overall commercial success for Ampion, our Clients and our Subscribers for Maryland.

Education, Skill, and Experience:

  • Need to know the Massachusetts Community Solar (SMART 2.0/3.0) program rules inside and out
  • Reside in Massachusetts and/or be committed to spending significant time in the market
  • Min 5 year Industry experience required: community solar, solar, competitive/retail energy or renewable energy; successful track record selling into affordable housing/property management, LMI communities and partners, and competitive/retail energy and selling into sustainability and ESG programs and leaders is desirable.
  • Comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage startup; eager to lend a hand cross-functionally as required
  • Clear, concise communicator who can tailor information to different audiences
  • Bias toward action, with a "get stuff done" mindset and a knack for finding answers
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, or mission-driven work is a plus
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves, understand the details of Ampion’s business, and drive the change together with the team
  • Service leadership mentality of low ego and high empathy, committed to building a culture and organization capable of autonomy and growth
  • Deeply collaborative, but also possessing strength of conviction and ability to challenge and resolve competing points of view in transparent, constructive fashion
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle many moving parts without dropping details

Salary Range: $100-150k with an added variable component
